What are you, an asshole?

Just got a "what are you, stupid?" from a guest. I didn't know people still said that. He was asking me how to operate his remote and where was the TV guide. I thought he was looking for the TV guide channel so I explained to him that our tvs didn't have that channel. In his most exasperated voice he said "No the guide button, on the remote." Having never stayed in a room before I haven't had the luxury of just watching tv here and am unfamiliar with the exact remote set up. "Sir if there's no button that says guide on it then there's no guide." "What are you, stupid? Every tv has a guide." I know this is not true, because I've never been able to afford the fancy tvs and cable packages that offer that option, but I don't explain this to the guest. "Sir I apologize but I am unfamiliar with the exact remote layout. If you'd like I can send you a paper guide of the channels." "Will that tell me what's on tv right now?" "No sir, just the channel numbers." "Well that's not what I asked for. You obviously don't know anything. Nevermind."

That's the second time in under 24 hours I have had guests on the phone treat me like I'm the dirt under the shoe. There is no reason, none, for acting like such an asshole. Do I just attract all the really mean people? Or am I just that lucky?
